Fishbowl Productions is pleased to announce the world premiere of Deadmonton, the dark new drama from award-winning playwright Andy Garland.

On a dark December evening during one of the worst winters in Edmonton’s history, Gill and Hailey meet for a paid rendez-vous. He’s an unhappily married salesman toiling away in shopping malls; she’s a country runaway working as a prostitute to get by. Both of them have a secret… and both of them have knives. When they accidentally reveal their predilections for murdering strangers to each other, their predator instincts slowly give way to fascination as a strange, unnatural relationship blossoms, a dangerous dance that leaves a string of corpses littered in the snow behind them. Can their prairie-fire romance sustain itself, or is it all destined to go up in flames?

Deadmonton is a dark, poetic, pas-de-deux with two actors, two chairs, two knives, and one lighter. It stars Vancouver actors Richard Meen (Connected: The Musical, Whirlwind Theatre) and Starlise Waschuk (The Rocky Horror Show, Fighting Chance Productions). The show features an original score by local instrumentalist Jay Schreiber, choreography by Waschuk, and is written and directed by Andy Garland (Sea of Green, Uprising National Playwriting Competition Winner, rEvolver festival 2013).

The show plays December 5th, 6th and 7th at the East Vancouver Studio (870 East Cordova Street) Performances are nightly at 8:00pm with doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are $12 general admission and $10 for students.
